With technology and everything this era brings, career options are changing, and new groups of professions are emerging that will be in high demand in the future. In particular, unlike today’s traditional professions, jobs rooted in science and technology look set to come to the fore. In the digital age, new products appear all the time and technology keeps diversifying and expanding. As a result, career options have already started to diversify too.

At the end of 2018, İşkur, Turkey’s public employment agency, completed a "jobs of the future" study on the new generation of professions. The study breaks the mould when it comes to how we think about careers. Looking ahead, it identified how technology is developing and where the gaps in the sector lie. It was also completed with an eye to the gaps that could emerge further down the line.

As part of the study, employers were asked which professions could come to the fore in ten years’ time and which would see growing demand. Their answers varied, but most of them pointed towards digital. İşkur also runs various programmes in this area and offers support to help young people.

Jobs of the Future

Although the jobs of the future identified by İşkur are mostly digital, the list also includes other groups of professions.

These professions include: - Digital accounting

- Digital advertising

- Robotics engineering

- Software engineering

- Cyber security specialist

- Nanotechnology specialist

- Database administration

- Biomedical equipment technician

- Solar energy system technician

Fields such as robotic coding, machine learning and super intelligence are also constantly in the news. It is thought that a wide range of new career paths could open up in fields branching off from these in the years ahead. Steering young people towards these areas will increase the potential for more useful work in the future. Children who show an interest in software and coding from an early age are already being given training and helped to build their own projects. This both brings the new generation into the field and ensures the quality of what they learn.

Which Career Would You Choose?

Which of the jobs of the future would you like to choose? If you are young, it is not too late to head in this direction. Once you discover what interests you, you can pursue that field. You can develop yourself through various training courses and become a voice in the industry. These fascinating careers look set to be fun. The choice is yours!
